I am a deep water merchant mariner and as such have worked in every corner CONUS, on all three coast, and around the world. I've done so with the burden of souls and billions of dollars in cargo and liability on my license. Everyday was full of potential peril if complacency to responsibility is allowed. Nevertheless, we have a culture of objective pragmatism where we get the job done and deliver. I took road trips crisscrossing the continent between contracts and eventually fell in love with the Pacific Northwest.

In 2016, I came ashore off the USNS Cesar Chavez and was immediately appalled by the leadership options we were given in a country as dynamic, diverse, and full human capital as our own. 2020, 2018, 2016, '14, '12, '10, '08, '06, etc. echos of same partisan divide and meaningless rhetoric, promises, and bickering that we've had going back decades to include this past election cycle. Television, radio, and social media loves throwing stones to make us appear divided, but in my travels I witnessed nothing but Americans of all origins, colors, and persuasions living life to make a better tomorrow. Until our most recent trials with this ongoing pandemic, and we do not have leadership to navigate it as an American peoples we have special interest lobbyist, and career bureaucrats.

Now both in maritime and in the military, we abide by something called Change of Command.
